A Legacy of Continuity

The UAM Imogie Foundation (UAIF), founded in 2023 by the Manila Enterprises Board is dedicated to driving sustainable development and improving the quality of life in rural communities.

About Us

The UAM Imogie Foundation (UAIF), founded in 2023 by the Manila Enterprises Board is dedicated to driving sustainable development and improving the quality of life in rural communities. It was established to honor the legacy of Hon. Usman Adoga Imogie, a former Chairman of Estako East LGA and a champion of grassroots development.

UAIF focuses on delivering impactful projects that address critical needs and strategically target key sustainable development goals adopted by the United Nations. Through initiatives such as clean water access, healthcare services, and community empowerment, the foundation embodies its mission of fostering resilience and progress in underserved communities.

Event Highlights

On October 19, 2024, the UAM Imogie Foundation (UAIF) conducted a groundbreaking dual event in the Imiegba Community, North Ibie Estako East - Edo State: the commissioning of a new solar-powered borehole project and a free medical outreach.

Clean Water Access

A solar-powered borehole, providing a sustainable 24/7 water supply, directly addresses the community's need for clean water, aligning with the United Nations SDG 6—clean water and sanitation.

Comprehensive Healthcare

The free medical outreach offered consultations and access to medical, dental, and optical care, advancing SDG 3 and benefiting residents of all ages.

Honoring a Legacy

The event served as a memorial for Hon. Imogie, a tireless advocate for community development, with dignitaries remembering his legacy of service.

Official Representation

At Hon. Imogie's legacy service, several dignitaries were present, including HRH Alhaji Ali Sule (the Ogiegah IV of Three Ibie), Hon. Benedicta Attoh (Executive Chairman of Estako East Local Government, represented by Hon. Salim Afoso), Associate Professor Emmanuel Louis Etsename (Senior Lecturer from Federal University of Technology Akure), and Hon. Yakubu Imogie, who gathered to commemorate the event and discuss community development initiatives.

Hon. Salim Afoso, Imiegba Ward I Councilor, expressed extreme appreciation for the gesture and reiterated the government’s support for grassroots development initiatives.

Engaging the community

High Turnout

The outreach surpassed expectations, engaging over 500 community members due to well-coordinated activities and language support. The Imiegba Community, one of three villages in North Ibie, is home to over 5,000 residents, and UAIF’s intervention was considered a step toward fostering long-term community resilience.

Simultaneous Activities

The medical services and borehole commissioning ran concurrently, maximizing community participation in both initiatives.

Language Inclusivity

Language interpreters ensured clear understanding and full participation, catering to the linguistic diversity of the community.

Comprehensive Medical Services

The outreach offered a range of free medical services, including:

General Medical Consultations

Physicians provided examinations, diagnosed illnesses, and offered medical advice and treatment.

Optometry Services

Eye examinations were conducted, and medications were provided to improve vision and eye health.

Dental Care

Dentists provided oral examinations, cleanings, and treatment for various dental issues.

Pharmaceutical Services

Free medications were distributed to treat diagnosed conditions, ensuring patients had access to necessary treatments.

A thanksgiving and word outreach, led by Reverend Joseph Okhamudu, provided an opportunity to evangelize and acknowledge the community's resilience. This segment aimed to inspire hope, promote unity, and encourage community development.

UAIF's dedication to sustainable development and rural well-being embodies Hon. Imogie's leadership. The project honors his memory and sets a benchmark for impactful, community-driven initiatives.

The successful commissioning of the project and free medical outreach on October 19, 2024, by the UA Imogie Foundation, marked a significant milestone in enhancing the quality of life in Imiegba. This collaboration between the foundation, local authorities, traditional institutions, and healthcare professionals highlighted the transformative power of community-driven initiatives in fostering development and improving public health. The foundation’s efforts serve as an exemplary model for sustainable community engagement, with the potential for replication in other underserved areas.
